Reading Rocks - Saturday October 25 - 9:00 - 12:30 Readers Rock with Technology is the theme and special guests will include Author Charles R. Smith, Jr.; Magician John Tudor, Cocky and the Reading Express, The Geek Squad, etc. The first 20 Thomas students will receive a special hat to wear in the parade! Plan on attending this special event!

T.A.P. (Teachers Assisting Parents) meeting. The meeting will take place October 28, 2008 in the John P. Thomas Cafeteria at 8:30 AM. The Super Fun Show staring Shawn Brown will take place for the students in the Pre K and K classes.

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

The External Review Team (ERT) revealed that we must work on several areas that have a direct impact on student achievement. The area I would like to work on is to increase parental involvement and I need your help. I am asking each of you to make a pledge to get involved by participating in the events and activities that are planned for our students. If you can not attend all of them please make an effort to come to at least one activity.

We need your assistance in another area, also. We need parents to assist us by agreeing to serve on the School Improvement Council (SIC). If you are willing to serve on the council please contact the office and give Mrs. Washington your name (735-3430). We would be very happy to have you work with us.

Look for an announcement in the next few weeks regarding several parent workshops. The teachers are planning an exciting evening of activities that will assist you when you help your child at home. Remember, check those book bags for the announcement about the workshops.

Thanks so much for all you do to help us as we work to educate your child. You are a very important part of your child's success.
